Configure Mail Client

Below you will find the instructions for setting up your mail account on your computer.  If you do not have the appropriate software or experience any issues with the email program then we offer paid support. Contact us for more information.

Windows Live Mail

  1. Click on Start
  2. Click on All Programs
  3. Click on Windows Live Mail
  4. Click on Tools
  5. Click on Accounts
  6. Click on Add
  7. Click on Email Account
  8. Enter in Email Address,  Password, Check Remember Password, Enter in Display Name and Check Manually Configure Server Settings for e-mail accounts
  9. Click Next
  10. Complete the incoming mail server information. My incoming mail server is a pop3 server. Enter in the mail.connectnc.com. Log on using Clear Text Authentication. For our Hosting Customers please enter mail.domainname.com (replacing domainname.com with your actual domain name)
  11. Enter in your appropriate Login ID. For our Hosting Customers enter your full email address.
  12. Enter in the appropriate Outgoing Server Information — mail.connectnc.com
  13. Check the box for My outgoing server requires authentication
  14. Click on the Advanced Tab
  15. Remove the check mark from the option that says leave copy of message on server. *
  16. Click Next
  17. Click Finish

* If you check your mail from mulitple locations and you need to leave a copy of message on server check the box that states remove from server after X number of days. Specify the amount of days to save.

Outlook Express

  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Click on Accounts
  4. Click on Mail Tab
  5. Click on Add
  6. Click on Mail
  7. Enter Display Name (this can be whatever you would like it to be)
  8. Click Next
  9. Enter your email address
  10. Click Next
  11. Enter the incoming mail server  – for Dial Up /DSL / Email Only Clients please enter mail.connectnc.com. For our Hosting Customers please enter mail.domainname.com (replacing domainname.com with your actual domain name)
  12. Enter the outgoing mail server –  for Dial Up /DSL / Email Only Clients please enter mail.connectnc.com. For our Hosting Customers please enter mail.domainname.com (replacing domainname.com with your actual domain name)
  13. Click next
  14. Enter your username – for Dial Up/DSL / Email Only Clients this will be the first part of your email address. For our Hosting Customer enter your full email address.
  15. Enter your password
  16. Click on the Advanced Tab
  17. Remove the check mark from the option that says leave copy of message on server. *
  18. Click Next
  19. Click Finish
  20. Dial Up/DSL /Email Only Client click Close on the Accoutns Screen Domain Hosting Customer please see additional settings below

Outlook 2003

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Click on Email Accounts
  4. Click on Add New Email Account
  5. Click Next
  6. Enter in the name and email address provided to you by your ISP and/or Hosting Company
  7. Enter the incoming mail server  – for Dial Up /DSL / Email Only Clients please enter mail.connectnc.net. For our Hosting Customers please enter mail.domainname.com (replacing domainname.com with your actual domain name)
  8. Enter the outgoing mail server –  for Dial Up /DSL / Email Only Clients please enter mail.connectnc.net. For our Hosting Customers please enter mail.domainname.com (replacing domainname.com with your actual domain name.
  9. Enter your username – for Dial Up/DSL / Email Only Clients this will be the first part of your email address. For our Hosting Customer enter your full email address.
  10. Click on More Settings
  11. Click on the Advanced Tab
  12. Remove the check mark from the option that says leave copy of message on server. *
  13. Click Next
  14. Click Finish

Outlook 2007

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click on Tools
  3. On the Email Tab Click New
  4. Enter in Your Name, Email Address, Password and Re-type password
  5. Select Manually Configure Server Settings
  6. Click Next
  7. Select Internet Email
  8. Click Next
  9. Enter the incoming mail server  – for Dial Up /DSL / Email Only Clients please enter mail.connectnc.net. For our Hosting Customers please enter mail.domainname.com (replacing domainname.com with your actual domain name)
  10. Enter the outgoing mail server –  for Dial Up /DSL / Email Only Clients please enter mail.connectnc.net. For our Hosting Customers please enter mail.domainname.com (replacing domainname.com with your actual domain name.
  11. Enter your username – for Dial Up/DSL / Email Only Clients this will be the first part of your email address. For our Hosting Customer enter your full email address.
  12. Select Remember Password
  13. Click on More Settings
  14. Click on outgoing Server Tab
  15. Select My Outgoing Server (SMTP) Required Authentication
  16. Select Use Same Settings as My Incoming Mail Server
  17. Click on the Advanced Tab
  18. Remove the check mark from the option that says leave copy of message on server. *
  19. Click Ok
  20. Click Next
  21. Click Finish

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click on File
  3. Click on Info
  4. Click on Account Settings
  5. On the Email Tab click New
  6. Enter in your name and email address
